Archan, thanks for the insight. Yeah, I've always been a rebel - used to drive motorcycles (yes, I did own 2 of my own) and went against the grain. Was attracted to musicians and artists and writers and backpackers, anyone who knew how to really live. It too until I was much older to realize that it was not only okay to be a rebel, but that I should be proud of it! You've just sparked a new blog post that I'm going to write - thanks!

Maria,

This post really resonated with me: I felt I just had to leave a comment.

It is almost like you took the words right out of my mouth.

Society conditions us to become doctors, lawyers or engineers. Failing that, we are told to become accountants or MBAs. Sad.

Our world would really be a poorer place without the comedic talent of a Carol Burnette; the golden voice of Frank Sinatra; the athletic skills of Michael Jordan; and the musical grace of Karen Carpenter.

We must always strive to break free of the hypnosis of social and cultural conditioning. Be a rebel, if you have to, but for crying out loud, try to find your own, one, true voice. That's the road to inspiration.

In this context, you and Drew, thanks to the sort of lives you have pursued (against the norm), are an inspiration to us all. You live far away from the maddening crowds and have learned to follow your bliss. Who could be a better role-model for aspiring artists? Thanks.
